Who am I?
Mizukoori. A student, hopefully forever. I stay alive mostly to see more beautiful things. Currently living very lazily.
What is this place?
This is my blog. I write essays, reading notes, random thoughts, and whatever else happens to fall out of my head. Most of it is in Chinese.
I started writing here because my Chinese was getting rusty in a very embarrassing way. I grew up around Chinese, but I don’t talk to people much, and at some point I realized I couldn’t even explain simple thoughts cleanly in my own language. So I write. Clumsily, but at least I write.
Also, random thoughts show up now and then. A blog gives me somewhere to put them before they disappear.
The English side wasn’t really planned. It started as a late-night experiment with i18n. After I got the routes and templates working, I ran into the obvious problem: my English is not good enough to translate all my posts without making them sound wrong. But since the setup was already there, I translated the about page and the links page, then wrote a post explaining why I’m probably not translating the rest. When my English gets better, I’ll translate more. Probably. Maybe.
The more I write, the more I notice how messy my thinking can be. If you read carefully, you’ll probably find holes, weird assumptions, and sentences that should have stayed in draft. That’s fine. Writing is partly how I catch those things. Maybe you’ll find something useful here. Maybe you’ll just enjoy watching me argue with myself.
You may also notice a lot of “reinventing the wheel” posts: explaining one concept, retelling a passage, trying to untangle an idea. Some of them are probably worse than a Wikipedia paragraph. Still, I need to write them myself. If I don’t take something apart and rebuild it in my own words, it never really becomes mine. And yes, I make mistakes. Feel free to correct me.
Names?
I go by many names, but these are the ones I use most:
-
「水氵冫」 — No deep meaning. I made it up on a whim, started using it in group chats, and somehow it stuck. Now it’s basically my official name. There’s also 「水水冰」 (easier to read in normal Chinese characters), 「氵氵氵」 (all radicals), and 「水水」
an affectionate nickname. “氵” is the water radical. “冫” is the ice radical. -
「Mizukoori」 — My English-ish name, from Japanese romaji. “mizu” = water, “koori” = ice. It’s also my GitHub username. I originally wanted “koorimizu”, but someone beat me to it. This one works too. It still matches the 「氵冫」 in my Chinese name.
-
「㴇」 and 「沝」 — Derivatives of 「水氵冫」. No deep meaning either. I just think they’re fun.
-
Plus names of anime protagonists that I use on less important platforms: Miyu, Elaina, Madoka, Illya, Homura.
